Evening of Entertainment

We enjoyed a wonderful evening on 3rd November when the Goldsmith Players, the church Choir, ukulele group, band and others offered a mix of engaging, moving and amusing items to entertain an appreciative and responsive audience, with proceeds going to support our Operation Christmas Child shoe-box appeal.

Thank you to all involved.

A little entertainment 2015

The Goldsmith Players joined the Belgravians to present an evening of entertainment for members of the congregation.

The evening was well-supported and the audience enjoyed a range of short, humorous sketches, recitations and musical numbers, ending with a short selection of items from Les Miserables from the choir.

Thank you to everyone involved.

Light Night 2014

Our church took part in the city centre Light Night again this year.

This was a very successful event with many visitors coming to enjoy the huge variety of activities available in the different spaces with our building.

We had a ceilidh in our large hall; circus skills displays every hour in the church; the choir sang in the church; there was a chance for people to write their prayers or wishes for light to bring more light into the world; the Nottingham Ukulele Orchestra played in our new fellowship room (and were joined by young players from Westdale Junior School for the early part of the evening); there was candle making; the outside of the building was illuminated; family meals were sold in the small hall and tea/coffee and cakes were available in the vestibule.

Here are some photographs of the evening:

Christmas Services 2013

Christmas poster 2013

We had a full programme of Christmas events and activities again for Christmas 2012.

We supported others through our “Toy Service” following which gifts were taken to a local women’s refuge, a party for international students and raising money for Framework – our local charity for the homeless – at our carol service.

Santa at Junior Church Christmas Party 2013

The children and young people were an important part of the celebrations, leading a festival service telling us about the history of Christmas carols and having their own parties (including the chance to watch a pantomime and have a visit from Santa Claus). There was also an extra service for children of all ages on Christmas Eve – a crazy, crafty Christingle service.

We also had a range of other services, including a service of readings and carols led by our choir and family worship on Christmas Day.

Christmas Carol Service 2012

We enjoyed a wonderful service of carols and readings for Christmas again this year.

The choir was led by Phil Hodgson in her first carol service as Choir Director and the organist was Chris Sennett.

We hope that you enjoy our photographs:

New Choir Director

Phil Hodgson has formally taken over as our new Choir Director.

Phil has conducted our church choir on a number occasions in the past, including leading several of our Passiontide/Easter presentations of Readings and Music and performances of the Messiah.

Sunday 2nd September 2012 was her first Sunday in her new “official” capacity and we wish her well in her new role and thank her for taking on this responsibility.

Jubilee “Songs of Praise”

Jubilee "Songs of Praise"

Jubilee "Songs of Praise" 20th May 2012

Many former members and choir members joined us for a special Jubilee “Songs of Praise” on Sunday 20th May 2012 to celebrate Jerry Morris’ 50 years of service as choirmaster at our church.

Jerry and his wife, Pat, chose the hymns, with one selected by Sylvia – another founder member of the choir Jerry reformed in 1962. An augmented choir opened the service with Parry’s “I was Glad” and concluded the worship with Vaughan William’s arrangement of the “Old 100th”.

After the service, during which Ron Kenyon gave a tribute to Jerry and a presentation was made, there was a very enjoyable congregational lunch.

An article about Jerry’s achievement which appeared in the Nottingham Evening Post on Tuesday 15th May may be read by following  THIS LINK.
