Virtual Pilgrimage for Christian Aid 2021

Join us on a Virtual Pilgrimage in aid of Christian Aid

WHAT?    Members and friends of our church are working together to undertake a virtual pilgrimage around Great Britain and Ireland.

WHEN?    During the whole of the month of May.

WHY?    Our main purpose is to raise money for Christian Aid (Christian Aid week is from 9th to 16th May this year) and, as we walk, members may make a donation to Christian Aid and/or encourage friends, family and neighbours to make a donation or sponsor them.

WHO?    We calculate we need at least 30 pilgrims to complete the pilgrimage, and of course we would welcome as many as possible, from the oldest to the youngest, by any mode of self-locomotion including wheelchairs, and for any length of time, and for any distance.

HOW?    We hope that, by aggregating the miles walked, run, cycled and swam etc. we will journey together to a number of sites of pilgrimage and of significance to the Christian faith. Our aspirational route, of some 2500 miles, will take us from Nottingham to Canterbury, to Kirkwall, to Furness, to Kells and St Davids. Those participating will record how far they’ve travelled, and log that with the central team. Once we have added all the miles completed together, we will be able to plot how far on our route we have reached. We will celebrate our achievements with photos, with information and with anecdotes of previous visits.
