January Church Meeting

Our postponed 2020 Church AGM will now be a virtual meeting, held on the Zoom platform on Wednesday 27th January, beginning at 7:30 pm.

The first item of business on the agenda will be consideration of resolutions to adopt the URC Rules for Procedure of virtual meetings into our Terms of Reference for Church Meetings, Elders’ and Elders’ Council Meetings . A paper including these resolutions together with PDFs of our Terms of Reference document and the relevant section of the URC Rules of Procedure are available using the links below. Other papers, including the church The Book of Reports 2019 and the Annual Report 2019 (both of which were circulated just before the first “Lockdown” in England) are available to members from the Church Secretary on request, in either digital or print form.

COVID-19 current situation

January 2021:

  • Nottingham is currently under the government’s Tier 4 regualtions. Apart from our service on Christmas Day, the church is not open but the Elders’ Council is keeping the situation under review.
  • The church continues to share a video of worship each Sunday, with the video becoming available for viewing just before eleven o’clock on Sunday mornings. Links to videos are on our Recordings of Services page. Orders of Service are available from this page and are distributed through members-announce.
  • The weekly eNewsletter is shared via members-announce in the middle of the week.
  • We will endeavour to keep this website updated as often as possible. Do visit frequently to check for updates, and also check our Facebook page. We would be glad to receive feedback that you think may be helpful.
  • For further information, follow the link below to read our Covid-19 page, which includes advice from the URC nationally and links to Government and Local Government advice.

Covid-19 (last updated on 3rd January 2021)

We wish to continue offering pastoral support to all members of the congregation. Any member of the congregation may contact their Elder if they, or someone they know, may need help in connection with a pastoral need or a practical need – we are here to support each other and do what we can for our communities. Any member of the Secretarial Team may be contacted if your Pastoral Elder is not available.

DO LET US KNOW IF YOU NEED ANY HELP.

We continue to pray for those who are having health difficulties or who have responsibility for taking decisions in relation to this difficult situation.

150th Anniversary Service

Sunday, 6th September 2020, marked the 150th anniversary of our church building on the corner of Goldsmith Street and Chaucer Street in Nottingham.

Plans we had put in place to celebrate together with visiting church friends and civic dignitaries have had to be put on hold as a consequence of restrictins and guidance resulting from the current pandemic, but we celebrated online with a special service of thanksgiving led by our minister, Rev’d Chris Ford. The preacher was Rev’d Geoffrey Clark, Moderator of the East Midlands Synod of the URC.

The video of our service may be found on YouTube HERE.
