Holy Week and Easter services 2021

Holy Week and Easter services 2021

All our Holy Week and Easter services were held virtually this year.

Worship for Palm Sunday was led by our drama group, the Goldsmith Players, the members of which videoed monologues/dramatised readings in which characters who witnessed the passion of Jesus Christ reflected on the events and their responses; the minister shared a series of meditations for Holy Week which were distributed using our members mailing system; on Maundy Thursday evening, Ron K led our Tenebrae service live on Zoom; our Zoom channel was also used for our Service of the Nails, led by Mark H at noon on Good Friday; the church choir led a service of Reflections and Music for Good Friday taking The Lamb of God as its theme and on Easter Sunday, our service of worship with Holy Communion was led by our minister.

We are very grateful to all those who planned and prepared worship for us, to all those who took part and to everyone who shared with us on YouTube and Zoom.

Easter services and activities

Easter services and activities

Passiontide and Easter were celebrated with a number of special services and activities at church.

Holy Week began with Sunday worship on Palm Sunday which incorporated a series of short dramatised scenes given by the Goldsmith Players (our church drama group) linked with bible readings.

On Thursday evening, we had a Tenebrae service and, on Good Friday, we had a Service of the Nails at 12 noon and a presentation by the church choir in the evening. This was a service of music for passiontide and readings linking Old Testament prophesies with passages from the New Testament which record their fulfillment.

Today we had a joyous all-age communion service after a lovely Easter breakfast.

Thank you to everyone who prepared, organised, led and contributed to these services and events.

Easter 2016

Easter 2016

We had a wonderful service on Easter Day.

After some of us shared Easter Breakfast together, our interim moderator led a joyful service of worship and Holy Communion and we also had the pleasure of receiving two new members of the church by profession of faith.

Thank you to David for preparing and leading our service and to the flower arranging team which made the church look so attractive or the occasion.

There are plenty of other thanks due to those who made this Holy Week so special again this year:

  • to Mark for leading our Tenebrae Service and the Service of the Nails
  • to Phil and the choir for the Passiontide music and reflections on Good Friday evening
  • to the Isobelle and the flower arranging team for decorating the church so beautifully for Easter Day
  • to Rosemary and Bill for making the front garden look so attractive for Easter
  • and to Liz, Mark and everyone else who organised the Easter Breakfast

Thank you to you all.
