New structures

After a lengthy process of consultation and planning, our church has adopted a new governance structure.
Members of the new Elder’s Council have taken over from the Managers as the Charity Trustees of the church and this group will be supported in its work by a number of Sub Groups including the Pastoral Sub Group, the Worship and Christian Education Sub Group and the Finance and Buildings Sub Group.

The members of the Elders’ Council and those continuing to serve as Pastoral Elders were recognised during worship on Sunday 13th January and special thanks were expressed to those who were retiring from the Eldership at this time. Thanks were also expressed to the members of the Management Committee who had served as trustees for a number of years.

Happy Christmas to all…

…and thank you to everyone who planned, contributed to and supported out Christmas services and activities.

100th anniversary of the end of World War 1

WW1 & WW2 memorial plaques

Our service on Remembrance Sunday 2018 marked the 100th anniversary of the end of World War 1. We took this opportunity to rededicate memorial plaques which had come to us from Castle Gate and St. Anne’s Well Road churches which have been installed in the sanctuary of our church.

Our Junior Church marked this historic anniversary by researching and presenting a display about the lives of the men from the ten St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church who gave their lives during World War 1. They also made driftwood crosses for each of them to be placed in the front garden of the church.

Harvest Festival 2018

Our Harvest Festival Service this year was also our “Orchestra Sunday” when we gave thanks to God for all His gifts to us. The wonderful floral displays celebrated music as well as the abundance of creation.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this special service, especially to those who gave their time to create the displays, to prepare the music and to those who travelled so far to join us.

Harvest Gifts were donated to The Friary and floral arrangements were taken out to members of our fellowship who were not able to be with us.

Child Friendly Church

We were delighted that Jane Henderson, our Synod Children & Youth Development Officer, was able to be present in worship to present the Child Friendly Church Award to our church.

Thanks were expressed to everyone who has worked so hard to make the application and to all the members of the Junior Church team for their commitment week-by-week.

Harvest 2017

Our Junior Church presented a wonderful, informative and engaging service for our harvest thanksgiving this year on the theme of “recycling”. We learned about what can be done with plastic bottles, plastic bags and old jumpers!

We had an augmented Traidcraft stall and also enjoyed a “bring and share” lunch with an international flavour.
