The Goldsmith Players

There is a long tradition of drama at our church. The Stanwell Players (Stanwell being a contraction of St. Anne’s Well Road, the location of the Congregational church where the group was first established) produced plays for worship and other occasions for about 25 years. This group disbanded a few years ago but a new drama group, The Goldsmith Players, was formed in 1998.

The Goldsmith Players present performances twice a year, meeting to rehearse on Tuesday evenings for eight months of the year.

In addition to Passiontide plays, usually presented in church on Palm Sunday and the following Monday, the players also perform two or three short secular plays in the autumn. These are also presented on two consecutive nights but in the church halls.
