The United Reformed Church has shared this prayer, by the Revd Dr Susan Durber, as we hear news of the devastating floods in Nepal and of people injured at a Church festival in West Sussex:
O God,
when floods come and signs fall,
when there is no news of those we love
and communications fail,
when we wait with fear and worry
and wonder why such things can happen
to pilgrims and worshippers,
to the faithful and the joyful -
come close to us and hold us,
and leave us ready to help or give or grieve,
as our hearts chime with yours,
Amen.
